For a commercial roofer days begin with a basic once-over understanding of what jobs are on the schedule and where they are headed for the day. With IRC the Foremen, Superintendents, and the Operations Team have a morning meeting to discuss those matters and get the list of needed materials for the work that day. They also discuss the needs for dumpster usage and crane assistance with the drivers.
After the meeting the Foremen meet with crews and get the required materials for the day and load up the company trucks. Once the Trucks are loaded personnel head out to the designated job sites for the day. For some it may be down the road and others it may be almost 2 hours aways, no job is the same whether it be the details for the job or the atmosphere of work. The environment for work is consistently changing.
As for being on site it begins with the Foreman or Journeyman on site putting up a ladder and double checking the safety measure put in place on site – which is typically a set of flag lines to make sure those on the roof and off know where the edge of the roof is.
After the safety and prep is completed, it is time to either start the project or pick up where the crew last stopped previously. As time goes on and the project is moving through the day the Foreman will dictate the time for lunch. Lunch is entirely up to the individual on what they pack or intend to get via walking to a location if the foreman and superintendent are okay with it. Once break has concluded it is time to continue the work at hand. Once the work has been completed or is ready to be wrapped up for the day then all immediate tools used by the crews are brought down and the crews vacate the roof. Once all personnel have departed the roof they take down the roof access point and store all tools and material on the truck for transport. Once completed they make way to the shop to clock out and head home.
